British Triathlon is committed to coach education and the development of coaching across the UK, with around 1500 coaches registered across all three levels. Whether you are completely new to coaching, or you have much experience within the world of coaching, we hope you will find what you are looking for here.

Coaching is at the heart of triathlon and vital to the success of all participants at every level from children, novice adults participating in their first event, age-group participation through to preparing athletes for the World Championships and Olympic Games.

The current British Triathlon Coach Education Programme places a great emphasis on a coaches’ competence rather than knowledge (what coaches can do rather than what coaches know). Through this we draw out the importance of the “how to coach” skills rather than just the “what to coach” skills of triathlon, in particular by integrating the theory into the practice. To enable a coach to progress we aim to create more opportunities to put their coaching skills into practice with the ready availability of feedback. All three levels of qualification are now UKCC endorsed and recognised by the International Triathlon Union (ITU).
