Final qualification results of 2014 at Althorp Duathlon

Published:

On Saturday, age-group athletes competed for the final qualification places for the 2015 ETU Sprint and Standard Duathlon European Championships at the final qualifier of the year at Althorp Duathlon.

The race held by On Your Marks Events on Saturday 18th October, was the third and final qualifier for the 2015 Alcobendas ETU Sprint Duathlon European Championships and the 2015 Alcobendas ETU Standard Duathlon European Championships. Some fast times were delivered despite the muddy conditions during the run and cycle courses that took competitors through the quiet roads of Althorp Estate and the surrounding Northamptonshire villages.

The final qualification places were hotly contested and there was some fierce competition in both the sprint and standard races.

In the Sprint race, Nathan Veall of York Triathlon came first in the men’s race in 01:21.56. Jonathan Hoggett of Transition Tri was just behind in 01:23.27 followed by Lyndon Harris of Greenwich Tritons in third place with a time of 01:24.19.

In the women’s race, Sally Baldwin of Brighton Multi Sports took the gold medal in 01:33.35, followed by Charlotte Taylor of University of Warwick/Mike Vaughan Cycles two seconds later in 01:33.37. Stephanie Knott of Cambridge Tri Club crossed the line in third position another two seconds further back in 01:33.39.

In the Standard race, Samuel Pictor was the first man across the finish line in 02:08.37, followed by Lee Davies of Ful-On Tri in second with a time of 02:14.04. Chris Kilburn of Absolute Tri was shortly behind in 02:14.29.

In the women’s race, Donna Mchugh of Fusion Triathlon Club was the first lady across the line in 02:32.12 followed very shortly after by Ruth Purbrook of Ful-On Tri in second place with a time of 02:32.33. Third place went to Pauline Munro of Wetherby Runners in 02:33.38.
