British Triathlon Courses Receive CIMSPA Endorsement

British Triathlon continues to develop its Education and Learning Framework as both the Foundation and Group Coaching Awards have received endorsement from CIMSPA.

The awards meet the national standards for Assistant Coach and Coach respectively, each carrying 10 CIMSPA points.

Michelle Hayden, Head of Coaching at British Triathlon commented:

“We have been on a journey since our research and insight work began during Project 21, back in 2021, ensuring we built a fit for the future education offer. Taking on board our member feedback and insight and applied industry developments we have progressed forward in our journey at pace. It is incredibly exciting to see our developments coming to fruition for both Triathlon coaches and the coaching sector.  

“We hope our new coaching qualifications will pave the way for further learning and development for Triathlon Coaches, placing British Triathlon at the forefront of education and learning development. In addition, we are thrilled to share we have also been recognised as an Enhanced rated learning provider in our recent External Verification assessment from CIMSPA. This is the highest standard that can be achieved by an education provider. We hope to release more learning and development opportunities both formal and informal as we transition into 2024, watch this space!”

CIMSPA the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity has been part of British Triathlons Education and Learning journey since the outset.

Commenting on the recent achievements Vinny Webb, Head of Workforce Governance and Sporting Bodies at CIMSPA said: “It’s been a pleasure to support British Triathlon on their journey of development. They are regarded as one of the trailblazers of Education and Learning in the sport and physical activity sector as their innovative approaches combine skill development and blended learning fit for the future. They are taking a person centred, approach to their developments considering environments, population groups and varied methods of learning and assessment.

“It’s great to see the latest endorsed Coaching qualifications to accompany their Swim Bike Run Community Activator Award, Including Disabled People in Triathlon Award and the Technical Officials Safeguarding Award all carrying CIMSPA points developing a robust sector for Sport and Physical Activity.”
