British Triathlon has unveiled the 2015 British Triathlon Age-Group Major Events Programme, following the inspirational performances of age-group athletes at the TransCanada Corp. World Triathlon Grand Final Edmonton that saw the Great Britain Age-Group Team win 7 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals.
As the Grand Final event in Edmonton signals the end of the triathlon season, today’s announcement which has been released in unison with the 2015 Triathlon England – National Championships will provide the opportunity for Britain’s top age-groupers to begin their planning for 2015 and beyond.
The 2015 British Age-Group Championships will get started with the British Sprint Triathlon Championships that take place within Nice Tri ‘St Neots’ Triathlon organised by Nice Tri Events on 10 May 2015. Bala Middle Distance Triathlon organised by Wrecsam Tri Club will host the British Middle Distance Triathlon Championships on 7 June 2015, whilst the British Duathlon and Triathlon Championships are still to be confirmed.
Jon Ridgeon, British Triathlon’s Director for Major and National Events was delighted to get the 2015 calendar confirmed, commenting: ‘British Triathlon is delighted with the strong interest expressed for hosting our major events in 2015 and we believe that next year’s calendar sees a really exciting and diverse set of event venues for athletes to choose from. With the number of active triathletes increasing every year, these events will all be really vibrant and highly competitive races.”
The level of interest in competing for the Great Britain Age-Group Team at ITU World Championships and ETU European Championships is as popular as ever and in 2015 there is another group of high-quality events for aspirant team members to race and earn the right to wear the Great Britain Tri-Suit.
The calendar has qualification events for the following major championships:
- 2015 ITU Sprint and Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships
- 2016 ETU Sprint and Standard Distance Triathlon European Championships
- 2015 ITU Sprint and Standard Distance Duathlon World Championships
- 2016 ETU Sprint and Standard Distance Duathlon European Championships

Each of the events selected to the 2015 programme comprise the leading age-group races from across the Home Nations. Each event has demonstrated the highest quality event management and provided competitors with the opportunity to achieve their personal triathlon challenges in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Dan Craigen, Race Director of Deva Triathlon, which is hosting a Great Britain Age-Group Team qualification event added: “We're delighted that the Deva Triathlon has been selected to host a qualifying race for the 2015 ITU World Championships in Chicago and the ETU European Championships in 2016. The Deva Triathlon is entirely run by volunteers from Chester Triathlon Club and the enthusiasm and support our club marshals add to the event is second to none! We will be working hard with British Triathlon to make the event bigger and better than ever before whilst still keeping the excellent value and the amazing atmosphere that club run events provide.”
