Lucy Hall won a brilliant gold medal at the Banyoles ETU Triathlon U23 and Youth European Championships. The Great Britain triathlon team won a further four medals to make it a successful weekend in Spain.

Hall exited the water first, as she so often does, and was never caught throughout the bike and run sections of the race. She crossed the line to enjoy her first major championship victory and commented:

“I’m really happy with the win. I knew it would be a tough race and going from the gun worked for me. The rest of the British girls did a great job too and it was really nice to share the podium with Marc Austin.”

Austin won silver in the men’s U23 race, replicating his result from the ITU World Championships last summer. He had a tight battle with Spain’s David Castro, who finished just three seconds ahead.

Austin combined with Chris Perham, Issy Morris and Zoe Thomas on Sunday to win U23 Mixed relay silver behind Italy.

The Youth Relays saw Britain win gold and silver. The gold came in the men’s event through Cameron Harris, Alex Chantler Mayne and Ben Dijkstra.
