Ben Dijkstra strikes gold in Quarteira

Published:

Following in the footsteps of Mark Buckingham and Heather Sellars yesterday, Britain’s Ben Dijkstra mounted the podium in Portugal after a faultless performance in his 2015 European Junior Cup opener.

The 16 year old Triathlon England Talent Squad member who scooped gold at last year’s Youth Olympic Games, dipped 3 seconds clear of France’s Lucas Jacolin to take the win this weekend.
What makes the feat ever more impressive is that Dijksta’s French rival is two years his senior.

In the Women’s race, Britain’s Sian Rainsley managed a top-10 finish, crossing the line in 8th.
