GO TRI at the Olympic Park - one year on!

Published:

March 31st 2014 was the opening day of the Lee Valley Velopark road circuit. What was the first race? GO TRI duathlon!

I can't quite believe it's been a year since the Lee Valley VeloPark opened. Time flies when you're having fun!

Since March 2014 the VeloPark has become one of my favourite venues hosting numerous duathlon events and training sessions.

Capital Tri held the first GO TRI event on the opening evening. If I remember right it was a cold but dry Monday evening and the floodlights were on. There were 2 races on offer that evening a shorter race (1.6km run, 8km bike, 1.6km run)  and also longer race (3.2km / 16km / 3.2km). The team at Capital Tri weren't sure how many would sign up on a cold March Monday night. They needn't have worried as the races filled with over 100 entering.

The GO TRI duathlon events have continued through the winter with 20 GO TRI duathlons this year!

This coming Monday (30th March) is the first year anniversary and Capital Tri are celebrating with a birthday duathlon. Tri-Athletes can race in a sprint (3.2km/16km/3.2km) or super sprint (1.6km/8km/1.6km) race. Both races start at 7.30pm) and as is traditional at a birthday party...there is CAKE at the finish line!

There are places still available and you can enter via Capital Tri

Congratulations to Capital Tri for a trail blazing year at the most iconic venue from the 2012 Olympic games, Here's to another successful year.
