After a summer break the London League sprung back into life on Sunday 26 August 2018
After a summer break the London League sprung back into life on Sunday as just under 70 competitors headed to Greenwich and the penultimate race in the series, Clash Of The Tritons. Although the 7:30am start put paid to any thoughts of a Bank Holiday weekend lie-in, the racers were rewarded with dry and bright conditions at Greenwich Lido for the 750m swim and just under 5km run around Hornfair Park.
In the individual competitions, overall honours in the Women's race went to home racer Hayley Newman (Greenwich Tritons) in 31:19, followed by Deborah Lowi (Serpentine) in second and Ruth Gloster (Clapham Chasers) in third. In the Men's race, honours went to Vanrisch Mclean (SLH) in 27:16, just 37 seconds ahead of Tom Blanshard (Clapham Chasers) in second and Haukur Heimisson (Ful-on Tri) in third (all results provisional subject to final confirmation).
In the Team events Ful-on Tri took 1st place and 100pts in the Men's, with Clapham Chasers taking the win in the Women's, Mixed (by a single position!) and Mob match (by a single racer!) competitions
Shout out to Greenwich Tritons for putting on a great race and a fine selection of post-race cakes. For the next and final stop in the 2018 Series, the League heads north of the river for Race 10 and the London Fields Aquathlon on September 16th.
