Silverfit launch annual Sunset Aquathlon series in Hyde Park

Published:

Charity launches a series of summer evening ‘Sunset Aquathlons’

A charity encouraging the over 50s to keep up lifelong fitness has launched an annual series of Aquathlons in the iconic Olympic setting of Hyde Park.

Last week saw the first of four races, which take place on weekday evenings. It consisted of a 500m swim followed by a 5km run. Family and friends were cheering people along with the help of Silverfit members who volunteered as marshals.

The races are not just for the over 50s though. They include competitors of mixed abilities and ages.

The events had support from SwimforTri, led by Dan Bullock, and members of Triathlon England who lent a helping hand on the day. The Silverfit Aquathlons are for everyone and that feeling was very much present at the launch, which echoes the Silverfit ethos of inclusion and community spirit.

The next Sunset Aquathlons will take place at 7pm on July 8th, August 5th and September 2nd.

The charity Silverfit aims to raise awareness of the benefits of exercise for the over 50s and help this demographic find a way to regular exercise they enjoy. They provide opportunities to get active by arranging events and regular local groups. They also provide links to other exercise events of interest.
