On Saturday 8th June, our young athletes headed to Cardiff for the penultimate round of the Welsh Junior Race Series, sponsored by Coracle Coaches. A regular event on the calendar, Cardiff Junior Triathlon was ran by Cardiff Junior Triathlon Club and held at Maindy Leisure Centre. Athletes competed over various distances of swim, bike and run in the pool and around the outdoor velodrome. The flat and fast nature of the course meant we had some close and exciting races with athletes fighting to get more points on the board before the final race of the series in September.
Athletes across the TriStart, TriStar 1,2 & 3 as well as Youth and Junior categories raced in the triathlon. The outdoor velodrome bike and run loop brought with it an extra challenge for the athletes to test their counting skills but provided a brilliantly spectator friendly race and ensured that the athletes were well supported throughout the whole event.
There were some impressive performances throughout the day as athletes pushed themselves to the limit once again! Junior Race Series results from the day can be found here.
As we have seen throughout the series so far, it was lovely to see a lot of our Welsh Junior clubs represented across the day, wearing their club, Welsh IRC or Welsh Triathlon Academy kit with pride.
