Sunny Success for Stage 5 at the Stephen Lewis Aquathlon

Published:

Sunday 19th May 2024 saw athletes head to Ystradgynlais for the fourth round of the Welsh Junior Race Series, sponsored by Coracle Coaches. The race which was held at Ystradgynlais Sports Centre and ran by Celtic Tri, provided a pool swim followed by a flat and fast run making for some exciting and close races.

We once again got lucky with the weather for the third weekend in a row, with glorious sunshine to top of a great day!

Athletes across the TriStart, TriStar 1,2 & 3 as well as Youth and Junior categories raced in the aquathlon. It was also the turn of the TriStar 2 athletes to race for a place on the Welsh team for the Inter Regional Championships (IRC’s) later this year. This brought with it an added incentive to race well and ensured athletes had to put on their best performances. Selection to the team will be announced in June.

It was great to once again see a lot of our Welsh Junior clubs represented across the day, wearing their club, Welsh IRC or Welsh Triathlon Academy kit with pride.

There were some impressive performances throughout the day, and it was great to see another race in the Welsh Junior Race Series go so successfully! For Junior Race Series results, please click here.

A huge thank you to Mark Edwards, Hayley Harris and all at Celtic Tri who were involved in making this great event run so smoothly!

Thank you once again to Coracle Coaches for their sponsorship of the Welsh Triathlon Junior Race Series.

A reminder to all athletes that if you want to count for in the Welsh Triathlon Junior Race Series, you must be a full valid member of Welsh Triathlon. You can sign up for membership here. The next round of the series takes place in Maindy, Cardiff for the Cardiff Junior Triathlon on 8th June.
