Yorkshire Triathlon Academy (YTA)
The Regional Academies are the foundations of the triathlon talent pathway in England and GB. They are led in each case by a Head Coach who works with the national talent pathway staff to deliver a programme of support to the best young triathletes in their region.

Who can apply?
Athletes who will be aged 14-18 years on 31st December 2024 and whose performance standards in swimming and running meet or exceed the minimum standard required (see below) are advised to apply.

Successful applicants will be invited to trials on Sunday 17th September 2023.
Application deadline is Monday 4th September 2023.

Yorkshire Talent Squad (YTS)
In addition to the Regional Academy the region also has the Yorkshire Talent Squad to support those athletes who have shown potential, and are close to the points score needed to enter the academy (usually within 10% of academy points scores). After the trials days, successful candidates will be invited to day 2 of the trials which will be held on Sunday 1st October 2023 and will include:

Guidance on minimum standard required
The standard of athletes selected onto Regional Talent Academies nationally continues to rise each year. The Yorkshire Triathlon Academy has a proud history of producing elite triathletes, including: Alistair Brownlee, Jonathan Brownlee, Gordon Benson, Sam Dickinson & Dom Coy, to name a few.
The swim and run times equate to points using The Academy Points Table https://www.britishtriathlon.org/gb-teams/talent/talent-identification.
The required standard in Yorkshire is to achieve 330 points. To use our points calculator please look here.
The tables below show the times needed to achieve this.
There are no tables for the cycling element of the trial.
