Age-groupers eye Belvoir Castle as next test

Published:

In a weekend witnessing triathlon action take place across the globe, we can’t forget another imperative date on the age-group calendar.

Sunday will see an influx of age-groupers descend on Belvoir Castle for Little Beaver Triathlon and importantly, an opportunity to secure a spot on the Great Britain Age-Group Team.

Taking place around the castle’s picturesque grounds in Leicestershire, the pressure will be on to put in a good performance and get onto the podium.

The standard distance race takes competitors 1500m through a shallow reservoir followed by a challenging long run to transition. They will then face the rolling two-lap 43km cycle course; a combination of straight roads and winding country lanes. The final 10km run will return triathletes to the castle grounds, where podium positions will be decided.

The race acts as the first chance to qualify for the 2015 ITU Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships, taking place in Chicago in September. Further places will be up for grabs in the upcoming Deva Triathlon and Dambuster Triathlon in June.
