Club triathletes race alongside 2012 Olympian

Published:

Club triathletes from around Great Britain travelled to Nottingham last weekend to take part in the British Club Relay Championships on 25 and 26 August 2012.

The event was the last of eight British Age-Group Championships in 2012 and provided the perfect finale in the natural triathlon amphitheatre of the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham.

Heavy rain showers and bright sunny spells provided challenging conditions for competitors as the teams of four completed a 500m swim, 15km bike and 5km run.

Saturday morning hosted the mixed team relay event, which was won by an all-star Loughborough Triathlon team that included 2012 Olympian, Lucy Hall along with Luke Watson, Lucy Smith and David Bishop. The team finished in a time of 03:10.33.

Just over a minute behind the Loughborough team was Redvenom.co.uk who finished in a time of 03:11.36. The team included Jenny Latham, Emily McCloughlin, Martin Cain and Richard Anderson. In third place was Torq Tri Team that included athletes Chris Panayiotou, Louise Bardsley, Danielle Stewart and Ian Roberts who completed the course in 03:16.34.

In the women’s relay category, Loughborough Tri took the British honours, crossing the line in 03:26.58. BRAT A came second in 03:37.06 with One Triathlon RDS A in third place with a finishing time of 03:39.41.
