GB Age-Group Team #inspiredbysochi in Cogne

Published:

The Great Britain Age-Group Team #inspiredbysochi got the 2014 season off to a gold medal-winning start at the ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships with Nics Wetherill winning the 25-29 age-group.

Nics from Buckingham completed the 3.9kn run, 6km bike and 6km cross-country ski in a time of 1:06.21 to win her age-group.

Team Manager, Keith Jenns a former Team GB Winter Olympic Games athlete who competed in the age-group races finishing 10th in the 45-49 category commented on the course: “We ran the 3.9km on a very soft snow course and the bike course was very technical with deep snow and tight corners. The ski conditions were very good allowing for fast technical downhills that could be skied flat out.”

In the elite U23 race, James Smith finished in fifth place.
