Grant Sheldon won gold on Sunday in the 2016 Nyon FISU World University Triathlon Championship held in Switzerland.
Sheldon’s victory in Nyon arrived in convincing fashion with a winning time of 01:46.57. The Scottish triathlete was more than 24-seconds ahead of his nearest rival Jonas Schomburg of Turkey, who finished in 01:47.21 to claim silver.
Leo Bergere of France finished in the bronze medal position with a finishing time of 01:47.50.
It was a strong all-round performance from the Great Britain Team with three top ten finishers in Nyon. Calum Johnson finished in fifth position with a time of 01:48.00 and Christopher Perham finished in seventh place in 01:49.04. Douglas Roberts finished in 20th place with a time of 01:51.37.
In the women’s event hosted earlier in the day, Yuko Takahashi of Japan took the gold in 02:00.54, Vanesa De La Torre of Mexico won silver in 02:01.15 and Sandra Dodet of France won bronze in 02:01.34.
Zoe Thomas was our highest finisher in 18th with a time of 02:04.58. Natalie Milne finished two places further back in 20th place and a time of 02:05.12. Hannah Drewett finished in 22nd place crossing the line in 02:06.45.
