There was extremely close racing over the sprint distance, with the top three in the men’s race separated by just three seconds. Johnson, who is based in Leeds, finished second to Valentin Wernz of Germany in a fast-finishing race.
Luke Pollard of Great Britain and the RAF finished inside the top 20, arguably his best international result to date.
Eastbourne-based Chloe Cook was the only British woman in the race and she finished second behind Angelica Olmo of Italy. She was just a second ahead of Chelsea Sodaro (USA) in another tight race.
