Oulton Park Autumn Duathlon

Published:

As autumn starts to make its presence felt and the leaves start to turn golden, age-group athletes’ thoughts are turning towards next season as they try and qualify this weekend for the 2015 ETU Sprint and Standard Distance Duathlon European Championships.

The Oulton Park Autumn Duathlon this weekend on Sunday 5 October is the second qualifier for both the Sprint and Standard ETU Duathlon European Championships next year. Athletes will be looking to secure places on both of the Great Britain Age-Group Teams.

The event, which is run by Xtra Mile Events, is held at the famous Oulton Park Race track in Cheshire.
Athletes will have the choice of competing in the standard or sprint distance races, running 4.3km, cycling 21.6km then running 4.3km for the sprint race. In the standard distance event competitors will run 8.6km, cycle 38.8km then finish with a 4.3km run.

The sprint race will kick off at 9:30am with the standard race starting at 12:30pm. Up to 500 athletes will take to the famous race track and will have the opportunity to see how fast they can cycle on the straight stretches of the track. In keeping with the motor theme, transition will take place in the pit stops.

The third and final qualifier for the 2015 ETU Sprint and Standard Distance Duathlon Championships will be at Althorp Duathlon on 18 October. Athletes hoping to qualify at this event can register their intent to qualify for the Sprint Distance Championships here and for the Standard Distance Championships they can register their intent to qualify here.
