Re-scheduled Clumber Park Classic Duathlon offers last ticket to Ottawa

Published:

The re-scheduled Clumber Park Classic Duathlon is set to take place this Saturday 11 May representing the final opportunity for age-group duathletes to book their place in the sprint and standard Great Britain Age-Group Teams for the 2013 Ottawa ITU Duathlon World Championships in August later this year.

The first two qualifiers for the sprint distance team took place at Althorp and Morpeth whilst duathletes had the chance to qualify at Dambuster and Cambridge Duathlon for the standard team.

The standard distance event will see duathletes complete two 5km laps for the opening 10km run before embarking on two 20km laps of Clumber Park and its surrounding roads for the 40km bike. The final 5km run will repeat the first lap of the opening run.

The sprint distance route is the same as for standard competitors with just one-lap for the first 5km run, one 20km loop of the bike course and then a 2.5km run.

Jez Cox, Great Britain Age-Group Team Manager for both the sprint and standard distance teams in Ottawa is looking forward to the final qualifier commenting:

“Clumber is a tried and tested venue for qualifiers and will provide a challenging test for duathletes aiming to book their place in the Great Britain Age-Group Team.

"The journey to qualification has been really exciting so far with great races at each of the qualification events; especially with British and Triathlon England Championships providing added prestige to two of the standard distance qualifiers.

"I am confident Clumber will round the qualification process off well and enable us to have our strongest possible team in Ottawa.”
