Georgia Taylor-Brown was a runaway winner at the ITU World Cup event in Madrid. The 23 year-old Leeds based athlete led from the front and ran to an emphatic first ever victory at this level.
It may have been Taylor-Brown’s first ever ITU World Cup but she stamped her authority on it and performed brilliantly well on the tough, hilly course.

“It was the toughest course I’ve ever raced, but also one of the best ones,” said Taylor-Brown after the race. “That slope was just terrific, but having such a great atmosphere, with crowds cheering, really helped to get through it.”
After breaking away with a group of eight on the bike, she was the best runner of the day and had a comfortable win over USA’s Taylor Spivey. British women have now won three out of the four World Cup events so far this season.
Stirling based Marc Austin finished in an excellent fourth place in the men’s race, won by Ryan Sissons of New Zealand. James Teagle finished eleventh, arguably his best senior result to date.
