There was British Age-Group and elite success at home as well as in Europe and further afield, plus young British talent on show at the BUCS Sprint Triathlon Championships.

IRONMAN Australia

Laura Siddall looked to repeat her 2017 win in Australia having won IRONMAN New Zealand a couple of weeks ago. She came out of the swim in third, seven minutes behind the leader, Annabel Luxford (AUS), who has beaten Siddall twice this season over the 70.3 distance. Luxford dropped out during the bike leg and Siddall stormed ahead, creating a comfortable lead which enabled her to win the race. Full list of results can be found here

Due to bad weather, the swim was replaced with a 3km run at IRONMAN 70.3 Australia in bussleton, WA. Former British elite, Liz Blatchford, who now competes for Australia, won the women’s pro race after the top three were all disqualified for an early turnaround on the run. It was also IRONMAN 70.3 Australia in Port Macquarie this weekdend, which saw a few British Age-Group top ten finishes including 21-year-old Christopher Kakoullis and Susie Wilkinson in the 30-34 category. Full list of results can be found here

Challenge Riccione, Italy

Challenge Riccione saw Henry Irvine, 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 Edinburgh Age-Group Champion, finish as the highest placed British athlete in ninth overall. Close behind was Sam Proctor who finished in 15th.

2018 Vejle ETU Powerman Middle Distance Duathlon European Championships, Denmark

Ben Price was the only British elite athelte racing. He finished eighth, improving on his 15th from last year. Age-Grouper Hester Barsham-Rolfe was excited to finish as Age-Group champion in the F35-39 cat, taking to twitter to show her progression to get to this point. Mick Anglim, Britain’s most senior competitor had a strong race to come in second. Full list of results can be found here

UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup, Ostend, Belgium

Paralympian George Peasgood warm up for this weekend’s first round of the ITU World Paratriathlon Series in Yokohama was a silver medal in the Time Trial event. He covered 27km in 38min 42.22seconds to win C4 silver.

Clumber Park Duathlon

The rearranged 2018 & 2019 ITU/ETU Qualifier and English Championships took place at Clumber Park Duathlon. After freezing conditions caused the previous date to be postponed, this weekend saw glorious blue skies and bright sunshine. Simon George took the overall win in the men’s race, while Rachel Wiseman was the overall champion in the women’s race. You can read the report from the Triathlon England Championships here

BUCS Sprint Triathlon Championship

Commonwealth Games triathlete, Olivia Mathias, was in action competing in Loughborough University colours at the BUCS Sprint Triathlon Championships in Calne near Chippenham in the South West. She had a consistent race to take the national title. Sophie Alden, also competing for Loughborough University, had one of the fastest swims to set her up for third place. Alex Yee is definitely back from his horrific injuries last summer. Representing Leeds Beckett University, he finished first to cap a great week, which included him being selected for the Great Britain senior European 10,000m Cup team.
