What's coming up this weekend...

Keep up to date with where our athletes are competing this weekend and how to follow all the action.

What:  2015 New Plymouth ITU Triathlon World Cup

When: Sunday 22 March

Where: New Plymouth is the major city of the Taranaki Region on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island.

Who: British names stepping up will be Grant Sheldon and Jessica Learmonth, both members of the UK Sport Lottery Funded World-Class Squad. Phil Graves will also open his season here. This is a popular warm up sprint distance event for the Auckland leg of the ITU World Triathlon Series, which takes place next weekend and all three athletes will be racing in. Richard Murry (RSA) heads the field in the men’s race, whilst Vendula Frintova (CZE) is the highest ranked female.

How to follow:  The gun will go off for the Women’s race at 12:30pm and the Men’s race will two hours later at 2:30pm local time. Follow the races at triathlon.org and on twitter @triathlonlive.

 

What:  2015 Quarteira ETU Triathlon European Cup and European Junior Cup

When:  Saturday 21 – Sunday 22 March

Where: Quarteria, Portugal –a coastal civil parish, located along the southern extent of the Algarve

Who: A 14-strong British contingent is set to compete this weekend in the first ETU European Cup race of 2015. Leading the pack are UK Sport Lottery Funded World -Class squad members, Mark Buckingham and Matt Sharp.

The junior race features an appearance from fellow squad member, Sian Rainsly. She is joined by a further 15 triathletes, including 7 members of the Triathlon England and Welsh Triathlon Talent Squads. James Teagle will line up as highest ranked boy, having represented GB at the ITU World Champs in Edmonton. He is joined by Youth Olympic Champion, Ben Dijkstra.

How to follow:  Elite races will take place on Saturday 21 March. The women’s race will get underway at 13:45, while the men will set off at 4:30pm local time.
