Big Cow to host final British Age-Group Championships of the season

British Triathlon is pleased to announce the 2014 British Age-Group Duathlon Championships are set to take place on 12 October as part of the Big Cow Duathlon at Emberton Country Park.

Entries are still available for the other three British Age-Group Championships, which kick start with the British Sprint Triathlon Championships at Eton Dorney. The event takes place on 17 May at London 2012 rowing venue, Dorney Lake and will provide a world-class venue to get the British Championships season underway. The British Triathlon Championships Liverpool hosts the standard distance triathlon event on 10 August 2014. Liverpool was one of the highlights to the 2013 calendar last season and British Triathlon expects nothing less this year. Entries will be open shortly on www.britishtriathlon.org/liverpool
 
Aberfeldy Middle Distance Triathlon in Scotland hosts the British Middle Distance Triathlon Championships on 17 August and will provide a scenic backdrop for everyone who competes in this iconic event. To enter Aberfeldy, please visit http://www.liveactive.co.uk/events 
 
In addition to the final British Age-Group Championships of the season, British Triathlon can also confirm the Big Cow Sprint Triathlon on 13 September will be an additional qualification event for the Great Britain Age-Group Team that will compete at the 2015 Geneva ETU Sprint Triathlon European Championships. 
 
British Triathlon would like to make athletes aware that for this event, the first three from each age-group will automatically qualify as opposed to the first four in previous qualifiers. In addition, all roll down places will come from the first three original qualifiers in Nottingham Triathlon, Southport Marina Triathlon and Rother Valley Triathlon.
 
In addition, British Triathlon can also confirm the three qualification events for the 2014 ETU Standard Distance Duathlon Championships are Stirling Duathlon (30 March), Big Cow Duathlon (6 April) and Cambridge Duathlon (13 April).
 
Malcolm Westwood, British Triathlon Director for Age-Group Teams added: “I am delighted to have the additional qualifier confirmed for Geneva. We have listened to the feedback from the athletes and felt this was a necessary step to ensure aspirant team members have the best opportunity to qualify.
 
“I am also looking forward to seeing age-groupers compete at the three duathlon events, each of which provide a high quality experience for competing duathletes.”
