Today (8 February 2018), it was announced that British Triathlon has been shortlisted in the Governing Body of the year category at the BT Sport Industry Awards alongside the ECB, RFU and EFL.

Bringing together sports stars, celebrities, senior decision makers, influencers and global media, the industry’s most anticipated night of the year celebrates the very best work from across the sector. The famous trophies are awarded on-stage in front of a sell-out crowd of 1,700 guests at the star-studded event, held annually in London.

The Governing Body of the year category celebrates organisations who have proven themselves to shine as a leader in its community within which it serves, from grassroots to elite.

British Triathlon’s application centred on the good governance and positive culture in place that has been the cornerstone to the successful administration of the sport. With successful performances by our world class athletes, a continuation in participation growth and expansion into new audiences through GO TRI initiatives and the exciting new format of the Mixed Team Relay, there has been a lot to celebrate within the sport.

Andy Salmon, British Triathlon CEO, said: “It’s fantastic to be recognised in this manner alongside some outstanding governing bodies. At British Triathlon we desire to be a game changer focussing on our partnerships, innovation and commitment to diversity in sport. Whatever the outcome, our inclusion on the shortlist is testament to the amazing volunteers, clubs, members, athletes, partners and staff involved with Triathlon.”

The BT Sport Industry Awards Judging Process is one of the most transparent and stringent procedures of its kind, with over 60 hours of intensive judging. The process begins with the entries being reviewed and judged by the Steering Committee, featuring figureheads and industry heavyweights, to produce the Official Shortlist. This element of the process spans three weeks and sees more than 80 expert steerers from across the industry and beyond decide the final list. The BT Sport Industry Awards Judging Panel will then decide the winner of each category, announced at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2018 - the most prestigious commercial sports awards in Europe.
