Clumber Park Classic Duathlon Update

Published:

The Clumber Park Classic Duathlon is currently set to take place this Saturday 23 March representing the second opportunity for age-group duathletes to book their place in the sprint and standard Great Britain Age-Group Teams for the 2013 Ottawa ITU Duathlon World Championships in August later this year.

With heavy snow forecast for this weekend, organisers of the Clumber Park Classic Duathlon are working closely with the park and local authorities in the hope that it can still go ahead as planned. However, they are warning that the event may need to be rearranged for safety reasons. A final decision will be made at 3pm tomorrow (Friday 22 March) afternoon.

The event is a qualification event for the Great Britain Age-Group Team and with this in mind, the event will take place on the alternative date of 11 May, if the decision is to postpone Saturday’s race.

Organiser, Iain Hamilton commented: “We’re at Clumber Park today, and doing everything we possibly can to ensure that the event can ahead. However, we are mindful that many competitors are travelling from across the country and that travel may become difficult if the forecasted snow arrives as predicted.”

Should the event be rearranged, every competitor entered into the event will receive a direct email communication from organisers One Step Beyond, with additional notices placed on www.onestepbeyond.org.uk and www.britishtriathlon.org

Entrants will be given a direct transfer of their entry for the rescheduled event or their entry will be carried over to the 2014 Clumber Park Classic Duathlon.
