Dickinson, Lloyd & Roberts feature in European Sprint Championships

Published:

Following quickly after the ETU European elite and Age Group successes in Kitzbuhel last weekend, this weekend sees the elite and Age Group Sprint championships in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Liam Lloyd, Doug Roberts and Sam Dickinson are Britain’s representatives in the elite events. No British women are competing this week.

Doug Roberts competes in the sprint race having finished 29th in the standard distance event in Kitzbuhel. Joao Pereira of Portugal has the opportunity to do the double, having won last week, but France’s Vincent Luis is arguably the favourite given his track record over the sprint distance in the ITU World Triathlon Series. He is also the defending champion.

Leeds’ Sam Dickinson will hope for better luck than he had at his previous race, the Cagliari ITU Triathlon World Cup earlier this month, where he had a puncture. Liam Lloyd has shown some good sprint form this season, winning the B Final at the Chengdu ITU Triathlon World Cup last month.

The elite races take place on Saturday afternoon, followed by the Age Group events on Sunday. Event information and start lists are available HERE
