In Holten, Netherlands there were junior and senior races over the sprint distance. Richard Murray (RSA) helped boost the standard of the men’s race, in which Dijkstra won an excellent silver medal behind him. Murray was stronger at the finish, and Dijkstra did well to hold off the fast-finishing Matt McElroy (USA) to secure silver.

Britain’s Iestyn Harrett finished tenth in what was a tight top ten. Sian Rainsley was the best placed British woman in 13th place.

Erin Wallace and Cameron Harris used their experience from the recent ETU European Championships to force themselves onto the podium in the junior event. Wallace won silver and Harris bronze, and a further three Brits achieved top ten results.

In Spain, local athletes dominated the men’s race at the Altafulla ETU Triathlon European Cup and Mediterranean Championships, which was also contested over the sprint distance.

However, USA’s Summer Cook was a dominant winner in the women’s race by virtue of her superior running.mBest placed British athletes were Natalie Milne and Fergus Roberts, who both finished 11th.
