European Cross Festival to feature Duathlon and Triathlon European Championships in Târgu Mures
Home of the ETU Cross Duathlon European Championships twelve months ago, Târgu Mures in Transilvania, Romania, will host a double-header this week with the Transilvania European Cross Festival hosting both the ETU Duathlon and Triathlon European Championship events. Multiple medal opportunities then for Age-Group, Elite and Para athletes.
Starting tomorrow, the Cross Duathlon Championships will be held on Thursday and Friday, with the Cross Triathlon Championships following on Saturday and Sunday.
Richard Hardy (60-64) will be returning to defend the Duathlon title he won 12 months ago, while Claire Hitchings (45-49) will seek to retain the Triathlon title she won last year in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland.
Course wise, the Duathlon event will comprise a 2-lap, 6.2km run, 4-lap 20km cycle and finish with a 1-lap run of 3.1km. Junior and Para athletes will complete half of those distances.
The Cross Triathlon will comprise a 1km swim, 23.75km cycle and end with a 6.2km run.
