Golden ambition in Glamorgan this weekend

Published:

This weekend, a number of British duathletes will head towards the Welsh countryside to take on the Vale of Glamorgan Duathlon, acting as a Great Britain Age-Group Team qualifier.

The battle will be on to secure a spot on the team for the 2016 ETU Sprint Distance Duathlon European Championships, with the first places having being decided at Clumber Park Duathlon in March.

Aim2Tri has organised the event, which also acts as the Welsh Duathlon Championships.

The first 5.5km run takes place within the Llandow race circuit and surrounding country lanes. Known for being flat and fast, it’s likely to be a shoulder to shoulder race to transition.

The following 26km cycle route is also likely to favour those seeking a quick ride, with an undulating course on smooth road surfaces; the racing will certainly be spectacular along the Vale of Glamorgan coastline.

The final 2.5km run returns to the race circuit where the podium places will be decided.

For the first time during this event, we will be displaying live timing via the British Triathlon website so you can follow the action as it unfolds. Access it here.

The final opportunity to qualify for the Great Britain Age-Group Team for the 2016 event will be at Anglian Water Duathlon on 19 April. For more information, visit here
