The duathlon season continued on Sunday 16 March at Oulton Park Spring Duathlon, as the famous racetrack hosted the first Great Britain Age-Group Team qualification event for the 2014 ITU Sprint Distance Duathlon World Championships.

The Oulton Park Spring Duathlon organised by Xtra Mile Events provided duathletes with the excitement of a mass start followed by the thrill of racing around the smooth and fast tarmac of Oulton Park Motor Racing Track.

Jimmy Kershaw (17-18) finished first overall in the men’s race with a time of 01:02.09, whilst Ian Lawton (30-34) came second in 01:03.47. Third place went to Ben Cockburn, who finished in a time of 01:04.03.

In the women’s race, Sian Edwards (25-29) was first overall in 01:09.11, whilst Charlotte Taylor (20-24) finished second in 01:11.42. Third place in the women’s overall standings went to Jacqui Phillips (45-49) with a time of 01:12.22.

For duathletes who miss the chance to qualify at Oulton Park Duathlon, the Clumber Classic Duathlon (22 March) and Morpeth Duathlon Festival (6 April) will provide two further opportunities to make the team for the 2014 ITU World Championships.
