New qualification event for the 2012 ETU Duathlon European Championships

Published:

British triathletes looking to qualify for the GE Great Britain Age-Group Team at the 2012 ETU Duathlon European Championships will have a new qualifier to compete in after the Ashbourne Duathlon replaces the Clumber Park Duathlon as a qualification event.

The Ashbourne Duathlon set to take place on 28 April 2012, joins the Dambuster Duathlon on 10 March 2012 and the Oulton Park Classic Duathlon on 24 March 2012 as one of three qualification events for the championships, which are still to be confirmed by the European Triathlon Union.

The change of event follows the well-known Clumber Park Classic Duathlon unfortunately having to change its date creating a clash with the Oulton Park Duathlon on 24 March 2012.

The Ashbourne Duathlon is one of the key early season duathlon races and will now offer qualification as well as a National Championship - the event is also host to the inaugural Triathlon England – National Duathlon Championships.

The above qualification events for these championships are on the assumption that the European Championships will go ahead.

However, British Triathlon cannot guarantee the championships will take place in 2012, therefore those events selected as qualifiers may ultimately not count towards qualification for any GE Great Britain Age-Group team in 2012.

Duathletes enter those qualification races at their own risk, British Triathlon and the Event Organisers cannot be held responsible for refunding any entry fees or associated expenses if indeed the qualifier status is no longer valid at an event.

Please note that the races themselves will still take place regardless of the issues related to the qualifier status.
