Pooley and Lawrence win world titles

Today (Sunday 4 September) saw Great Britain's supreme multi-sport specialist, Emma Pooley, successfully defend her ITU Long Distance Duathlon World Title, whilst Holly Lawrence dominated the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Australia.

Pooley and Lawrence continued Great Britain's history of good results in middle and long distance events, as both women won world titles.

Pooley, just three weeks on from competing in the cycling at Rio 2016, celebrated her third win in a row in Zofingen, Switzerland at the ITU Powerman Long Distance Duathlon World Championships.

Meanwhile in Australia, 26-year-old Lawrence from Swansea took the Sunshine Coast by storm to finish in 4:09:11, nearly two minutes clear of second-placed Melissa Hauschildt who was competing on home soil.

Full reports of both races to follow.
