Triathlon action this week for age-group triathletes and triathlon fans

Published:

The Deva Triathlon takes place this Sunday 1 July in the centre of the historic City of Chester, representing the final opportunity for standard distance age-group triathletes to book their place in the GE Great Britain Age-Group Team for the 2012 Auckland ITU Triathlon World Championships in October.

Alongside the age-group action, triathlon fans can also watch the Toshiba Windsor Triathlon, the second event of the 2012 British Triathlon Super Series on Channel 4 this Sunday 1 July at 07.05am.

At the Deva Triathlon, competitors will complete a 1,500m swim in the River Dee starting at the Sandy Lane Ferry Terminal on the Meadows, which also provides a great vantage point for spectators.

The 40km bike is a flat course, which leaves Chester through the scenic village of Eccleston, through Pulford, Rossett and Marford before entering Wales on quiet rural roads before returning to Rossett and a fast return to transition. The 10km run is two-laps of riverside paths, picturesque parkland and local minor roads ensuring you can keep your competition within view at all times.

The Deva Triathlon is the final of three qualifiers for the 2012 Auckland ITU Triathlon World Championships. The previous two events were the Dambuster Triathlon and Tri UK Shropshire Triathlon.
