What's coming up this weekend...

After a quiet Easter weekend, our athletes are looking to get back in action over the next couple of days. From qualification races to middle-distance debuts, it's set to be an exciting weekend ahead.

Gloria Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria Triathlon

Saturday (22 April) sees Alistair Brownlee step into unfamiliar territory as he prepares to make his middle-distance debut in Gran Canaria on Saturday. Not the solo Brit to compete on the Canary Island this weekend; the Pro start list also includes Lucy Gossage, Corrine Abraham, Lucy Charles, Emma Pallant, Cat Jameson, Mark Buckingham, Will Cowen and Tom Davis.

A successful event would be an early birthday present for the Olympic Champion, who turns 29 the following day.

Alistair commented: I’m delighted to be racing my first middle distance triathlon race at Gloria Challenge Gran Canaria. I’ve made no secret that I am going to spend the next couple of years racing some different distances and I’m really looking forward to the process of preparing for some longer distance races and of course, competing at them.

“I can’t think of a better place for my first one.”
Expect hot and hilly conditions for both the Pro’s and the host of British Age-Group competitors taking part.

Stockton Duathlon Festival

It's that time again when age-groupers in their hundreds flock to the North-East for the Stockton Duathlon Festival. A popular event on the domestic circuit, this year the event plays host to three Great Britain Age-Group Team qualification opportunities; the 2017 ITU Sprint Distance Duathlon World Championships (Draft Legal), the 2017 ITU Standard Distance Duathlon World Championships and next year's ETU Standard Distance Duathlon European Championships.

All races are on fully closed roads for the event on Sunday (23 April) with run and cycle routes around the Stockton Riverside, taking in the three main bridge crossings as well as the Tees Barrage.
