What's coming up this weekend...

There’s everything from super-sprint Mixed Relays to long distance racing this weekend.

ITU World Triathlon Hamburg (including ITU Triathlon Mixed Relay World Championships)

The triathlon headlines this weekend are likely to be dominated by WTS Hamburg where the ITU World Triathlon Series has its fifth round. Both defending ITU World Champions are there, Mario Mola and Flora Duffy, and Great Britain has a team of nine athletes.

As well as the individual races on Saturday, there is the Mixed Relay World Championship on Sunday. GB will miss Jonny Brownlee, who has returned home unwell. He was part of the team on all three occasions that GB won this event. The events will be available to watch live, read the full preview and TV information here.

Arundel Triathlon

It's time again to welcome our next batch of potential Great Britain Age-Group Team members to the stage, this time hoping to qualify for the 2017 ITU Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships.

Now in it's fourth year, Sunday's Arundel Triathlon is set to welcome athletes in their hundreds down to the picturesque South Downs National Park. They will together face a fast one-way swim through the River Arun before descending into the historic town on bike and foot. Look out for some close battles.

Panevezys ETU Triathlon Youth European Championships Festival

Eight British athletes aged 16 and 17 are over in Lithuania for the Youth Championships. Things are going well after the event started today (Thursday). All eight athletes are through to the A Finals on Saturday after coming through the semi-finals in style. There are Mixed Relays on Sunday too, more info here.

Ironman UK

Ironman UK takes place in Bolton. Alistair Brownlee was on the start list, but isn’t racing. It’s also unlikely that Lucy Charles will race, having finished second at Ironman Frankfurt last weekend.

Lucy Gossage is back after winning in 9:26:05 last year and she seems to be balancing her part time return to oncology with success so far this year. Defending male champion, Kotsegarov Kirill (Estonia), is also back and up against Brits including Will Clarke and Harry Wiltshire.
