There are almost 300 age-group triathletes competing from Britain across both sprint and standard distance races with 141 triathletes racing in the standard distance event today (Friday 20 April).

The GE Great Britain Age-Group Team also has six returning medallist from Pontevedra including two defending champions: Caroline Whittaker (50-54) and Hilary Stevenson (65-69).  Caroline is looking forward to the event commenting: “Training has gone well, apart from a little bit of over training in the past month. Eilat is a lovely place for a triathlon, everything is close and the weather is warm. The team managers have been excellent and everything seems to be well organised.”

She continued: “There are loads of British athletes here and I had dinner last night with one of our elite paratriathletes, sprint and Olympic distance age-groupers and friends – there is a great atmosphere.”

The ETU Triathlon European Championships will also host elite junior, senior and paratriathlon events with the elite junior and senior women also racing today.
