Busy weekend features ITU World Paratriathlon, Challenge Roth, ETU Cup and more
It’s set to be a sizzling weekend for all home based triathlon events, and there are a raft of exciting international events. High profile athletes including Joe Townsend, Andy Lewis, Lucy Charles and Beth Potter are amongst those competing across Europe at events including the ITU World Paratriathlon Series, Challenge Roth and Super League. There’s also IRONMAN Austria and ETU European Cup action.

The action doesn’t stop after the excitement of Leeds and Nottingham. This weekend the World Cup takes top billing… that is, of course, the ITU World Cup in Antwerp, not the FIFA one in Russia! There’s a strong GB line up there as well as juniors in Austria, Paratriathletes in France and some great racing here in Britain too.

Vicky Holland’s tenacity paid off at the AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds, where she achieved her first Series victory for three years. Overcoming challenges along the way, she surged ahead of the field to claim victory in Leeds sun-drenched Millennium Square. Georgia Taylor-Brown achieved a break-through silver medal and Tom Bishop was the top British male in sixth.

Great Britain’s Mixed Relay team delighted the large crowds in Nottingham by winning silver behind Team USA as qualification opened for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The British quartet of Non Stanford, Tom Bishop, Vicky Holland and Jonathan Brownlee performed exceptionally well, but just fell short of catching the Americans at the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay.
